International Festival TRANS/MISJEEAST OF ARTS Poland-Romania-Lithuania-Ukraine

We are happy to announce that Rzeszów again invites for a unique cultural event uniting arts and people. From 27 to 30 August the capital of the Podkarpackie Region will for the second time host International Festival TRANS/MISJEEAST OF ARTS, organised by Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre in Rzeszów. The event will again bring together artists from eastern countries, for whom the context of borderland of great importance.

This year the program of the Festival includes presentations and performances by artists from Poland, Romania, Lithuania and Ukraine. Three theatres invited by the organiser to cooperate include Šiauliai State Drama Theatre (Lithuania), Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre in Iasi (Romania) and Sumy Academic Regional Theatre of Drama and Musical Comedy named after M.S. Shchepkin (Ukraine), which are renowned cultural institutions of great importance. Our country will be represented by Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre, with guest appearances of artists from other parts of Poland.

This year TRANS/MISJEEAST OF ARTS Festival – just like the 1st edition – will mainly focus on drama theatre. The partner theatres will perform plays from their repertoire, and the host theatre will present a special preview performance of William Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by Paweł Aigner. The Festival, intended as an interdisciplinary event, will also bring together representatives of other arts. The audience will have an opportunity to admire art exhibitions, open air shows and concerts as well as film screenings, to be held throughout the city. They will be open to everyone, from art lovers and experts, to people spending their summer holidays in town and craving for unconventional type of  entertainment.

Organisation of II International Festival TRANS/MISJE – EAST OF ARTS Poland-Romania-Lithuania-Ukraine was possible owing to financial support from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and Local Government of the Podkarpackie Region. Financial support was also granted by the City of Rzeszów.
